As OneDrive ruthlessly cut their OneDrive storage amounts to both paid and unpaid users, Google took an opposite route by offering up to 1 TB of Google Drive storage space for free. Yes, there will be a catch but offering such a chance to give away that amount of storage space is way better than being cut to only get 5 GB.
Basically, this unbelievable storage space giveaway is an incentive program by Google for crowdsourcing the improvement of the Local Guides programĀ in Google Maps to help people make decisions easier. Any user can make contributions to Maps, earning points in return and unlock rewards with these points.
You can earn points and level up by writing reviews, uploading photos, adding new places, fixing outdated information, and answering simple questions. Each contribution type is worth one point, so you can earn up to five points per place.
When the points are accumulated to over 200 points, you get to receive a free 1 TB upgrade of Google Drive storage.
What’s more…if you earn more than 500 points, you are eligible to apply to attend Google’s Summit conference.
