The speaker icon is showing on the tab in Microsoft Edge, indicating that there are sounds getting played on that tab at the moment. It’s a nice indication that lets you easily pin down which tab is making all the noises, especially helpful when you have many tabs open at the same time.
Now you can do more with that little icon. Since Windows 10 build 17035, you can now mute the sound from playing by simply clicking on it. The tab’s audio will unmute when clicked again.
The feature is also available from Tab’s context menu. Right-click the tab and you will see Mute tab is one of the options listed on the context menu that pops up.
